The fires continue to burn turning the skies to ash out here leaving us all wondering if we now fire has become a season upon this earth, like spring, summer, fall and winter?
Last night, the dog had to go out at 12:34 a.m. He’s a good dog for at least getting me up and not doing his business somewhere else. But he also likes to try to stay outside and sleep out in the open unless I call him in.
As expected he didn’t come right away, so I flicked on the light to the back patio and saw little flakes drifting in front of the sliding glass door. How strange to see snow in early August, I thought.
Our dog came in and I went out to get a closer look and realized it was the ashes from the fires burning thousands of acres in the mountains miles away.
How terrible to think that these little flakes were once trees, or brush or houses…
And so it seems that now, our planet will have its season of fire and yet, there are some who doubt we have not affected this paradise and helped create the conditions that now make a tinderbox of the west.
Anyway, so no running for a bit through this. I guess it’s more of a day for reflection and meditation any way.
Keep writing, keep running.
