So, I was eyeing a smart watch to help track my runs and after investigating Coros, Apple and Garmin, I took the Garmin Forerunner 55 and I’m so glad I did.
I was just looking for a smart watch that I could use with my current Nike Run Club app but also on its own to track miles and routes and heart rate. Anything else I got with it would be a bonus, and it’s proven to be a great bonus.
What it tracks is amazing, not just my runs but sessions of yoga and sleep and hydration and steps. It’ll map walks, hikes and cycling with altitude changes. And this little watch tracks it by itself and then does a data dump to an app that I can then peruse at my leisure. Dang we live in amazing times, my friends.
I remember when you used a Timex or a Casio and then had to drive the route you ran to get your miles. You’d then track it all in a running log/journal. That was really just 15 or 16 years ago. Don’t get me wrong, it was fun to look back through those journals, but now, thinking about what I’m getting from this watch just blows me away.
Anyway, I know we’re living in some really strange and trying times, but we’re also living in some extraordinary ones. And that’s I’m trying to remember that it’s not all bad.
Keep running, keep writing.
