Chalk Creek is a little tributary that runs down Peavine Mountain in Reno Nevada to the Truckee River– the life-blood of the region. Most days of the year, Chalk Creek is nearly dry, but if you look closely, you can see evidence of the water that’s keeping us and just about everything else out here in the high desert alive.

So like Chalk Creek itself, this site is a tributary and a feeder. Chalk Creek Writing Outfit and Running club is the home for the oddities of my writing that don’t fit with my other site, RobertVarnon.com, where you can find information on my published novels and works in progress that will be available for purchase.

I also like running and do it fairly consistently, though I’m no marathoner and don’t finish on the podiums in the various 5K’s I enter. But I do like doing it, so you’ll find info on some of that stuff as well.

Finally, a word on the name. I just thought it sounded fun to be a part of an Outfit and and I’m a fan of Lonesome Dove. So I made up the Chalk Creek Writing Outfit and then added the running club part. To date, the “organization” is comprised of just me.
